Andrea Pelaez is a seasoned trademark and commercial law practitioner with a broad range of intellectual property experience and start-up counseling. After earning her JD degree at Fordham University School of Law, she joined a sophisticated IP boutique where she represented many Fortune 500 companies having some of the world’s most famous trademarks. She also served as in-house counsel to a global consumer electronics and consumer products corporation.
Ms. Pelaez’s intellectual property practice includes trademarks, copyrights, and domain names, where she focuses on domestic and international trademark clearance, prosecution, enforcement, proceedings before the USPTO and TTAB and strategic portfolio management. Her commercial law practice involves counseling and due diligence in corporate transactions, counseling start-ups, complex contract review and drafting, and assisting client’s in regulatory matters.
She has advised clients in a wide range of industries, including luxury and consumer goods, computer software and hardware, electronics, personal/beauty, fashion and jewelry design as well as media, entertainment, publishing, hospitality, restaurant and educational services.
She also counsels international clients. Her language skills include native fluency in Spanish and fluency in French. She is a member of the Copyright Law Society and New York Intellectual Property Law Association.
During law school, She was selected to intern in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York in the Chambers of the Honorable Deborah A. Batts. Prior to law school, she interned at the Queens County District Attorney’s Office for the Deputy Executive Assistant District Attorney.
